Wondering How IS ROI

Hello All

Wondering, I have been advertising with Google Adwords for quite some time now.

However I have only been a 9 to 5 guy with these ads. I have never used Google adwords after 8:00 pm eastern time.

I was wondering if someone can tell me is it worth to advertise after business hours with google adwords?

How about over night? Or 24/7?

Some feedback on this subject would be appreciated.

Thanks!

It depends on YOUR users demographics.

I have a B2B site that does well after 8pm(est).
And Sunday nights do well too.

You should check to see when the busiest time on your site is.

Or, you could just try it out for a while and see what happens.

I also have a B2B site. It does the best after hours. I don't think the clients have time to surf the web and see these ads during business hours.

well why dont you just come out and say it...

It would be cool if google adwords added the functionality of selecting day(s) of week / hours of display for ads.

my BEST converting hours used to be midnight > 4am

conversion rate of 50% +

no longer in that business, but learnt some valuable lessons.

A short and related story:

Talking to advertisers each day, I hear many say that they want to appear all the time so that their ad will still be there if somebody returns to look for them late at night.

I had a related personal experience recently. Found a great deal, from an AdWords advertiser, on a gift that I wanted to send to my sister. Didn't want to take the time to buy during my short lunch break though.

When I got home late in the evening, I looked for the ad again, credit card in hand. You guessed it: the ad wasn't there.

Frustrating!

I did find the ad again the next day, and bought several things - but I wonder if everyone would keep looking.

So, I guess that this is worth keeping in mind when making the decision.

I think this also points out the benefit of using adwords even on terms that you have good natural search results for. That way you are covered if either the SERP or Adwords suddenly disappears because of an update, misterious Adword disabling, competitor bidding you off of the page, or budget shortfall. Good site marketing is a combination of campaigns and SEO and PPC are just two of them.

20% of our visitors return w/in 12 hours of their initial visit, and those 2nd visits are usually after 6pm. As usual, the return visitor conversion is much higher than the initial visit, thus advertising 24/7 is very useful.
