Why so high a price?

minor keyword with no competition

I have one Ad Group with 4 keywords and a maximum bid 0f 50c. One of the keywords is quite competitive and this has dragged my bid up from 20c, when first introduced, in order to keep it displayed in the top 3-4 ads.

My question is that 1 of my 4 keywords, which is not at all competitive and for which only my ad appears, costs 45c a click which is higher than I pay for the main keyword. I was PREVIOUSLY only paying 5c for click-throughs on this keyword but it seems that having increased my top bid to 50c it has caused the price of this to drastically rise, although the price of the number 1 word has risen in a more logical fashion.

The only thing I can think of doing is setting up a seperate group for this one keyword with a maximum bid of 5c. It seems a bit of a pain to have to do this, anyone got an answer as to the logic for this happening or an alternative solution?

TIA

The only logical reason I can think of is that the minimum CPC of the keyword has been increased. (the possibility of that happening is very remote). Forget about logic and get on with creating a new AdGroup, especially since you are now paying 10 times more than what you should!
