Adsense Position v AdWords Position

Doesn't seem related...

I'm still not sure if I like AdSense or not, but I've not gotten enough clicks from AdSense to really worry one way or another, I keep waiting to see if we generate more than 100 clicks/month from AdSense, and then I can actually have some numbers to track with.

I've got a few adgrops on AdWords that are in positions 0.6-1.1, and even if I make my CPC half of what it is, I still maintain the number one position on Adwords, so we're firmly entrenched for the number one position.

These words on average have a 4.6 position in AdSense. These numbers are so different, it makes me wonder if they use a completely different set of criteria for AdSense positioning, as there isn't anyway I can see that our ads wouldn't be in position 1 for AdSense.

Any ideas about AdSense positioning vs AdWords?

I believe AdSense ads are ranked soley on Max CPC.

So a high CTR doesn't get anything?

Interesting, wish G had something published about AdSense ranks, although, intereresting to know, if that's true, you can be 4-5th in bid price and #1 on AdWords, kinda lets you know how good your competition is.

I think G has at least the following reasons for basing AdSense soley on Max CPC:

- Content matching is not as accurate as search query. So a good CTR on someone searching for "blue widgets" doesn't mean that ad will acheive a better CTR on a page w/ generic widget information.

- publishers want to make as much money as possible, so G gives them the highest CPC's

Of course, my view is probably biased; because, I'm an advertiser not a publisher.
