AdSense has been a great addition to my editorial travel-planning site for several reasons:
1) It lets me monetize subtopics that wouldn't generate revenue through affiliate links;
2) It provides income on top of existing revenue sources;
3) It provides a steady source of revenue during the low season when affiliate bookings are down;
4) It enhances my site by delivering ads that are of interest and value to my readers.
Put the content ads on in feb and it has been doing well.
Revamped my existing 2 sites in June-July this year and they took off upward like a rocket. Now I have another one I just finished and debating whether to put adsense on it right away or wait awhile, LOL....world shaking decision! :) :)

In that time, I have received one warning for unknowingly serving Bid Clix ads (through fastclick) on a page with adsense.
I have reduced Adsense inventory once in April 2004 when smartpricing was introduced and the eCPM was less than what Adsonar was paying. Prices have recovered somewhat since then and Adsense is now getting first dibs at all my ad inventory.
Monthly revenue from July 2003 to September 2005 (July being the first full month) has increased 4x whereas traffic to Adsense has increased 10x. Although I attribute that mostly to the decline in EPC as advertisers got smart during the initial year. The last 12 months have been remarkably stable with increases in traffic leading to increases in revenue at an almost 1 to 1 ratio.
So yes. Adsense seems stable. And I am now factoring it into future plans more than I used to.

February 04 was my first full month with ads on the whole site.
My single largest boost in income came from adding Adlinks to +/- 1,200 pages.
BTW, "white hat" is a matter of opinion, and the only opinion that matters is Googles.
It was July, 2003. I had been approved on a Friday morning and incoporated AdSense into a few of my more high traffic pages before heading out to the beach for the weekend with the family.
Let's just say that I was pleasantly surprised when I got back Sunday night at how well AdSense had done -- to the point where I began integrating AdSense through most of the other pages before I even had time to unpack.
In many ways, I have yet gotten around to unpack.
Pays that PLUS has paid for all sorts of little extra's including a 2 week family holiday in sunny Crete (no expense spared), and a week in sunny Wales this year alone. Planning on a BIG family holiday in the US next year sometime.
I never thought there would be any money in my site - just shows how wrong you can be :) :).
