Variying earnings month over month

I saw dramatic change (around 40%) in revenue in adsense month over month. Last month it was good and this month it is bad, I didnt changed anything and no change in SE position and impressions also same.

But i got less revenue compare to last month. This kind of pattern i used to watch for quite a while. Some months good earning other month around 30 to 40% drop.

Any body can through light here.

Well, unless you have loads of traffic (say 4 or 5 thousand page views average per day) then the figures you see are pretty meaningless because your sample size is not large enough. If this is the case it really tells you nothing useful.

If you do have big traffic, and still see big variations, it can be because of so many factors that its still almost impossible to say what caused it.

Advertisers budgets, advertisers deciding to use TV, or different ad networks, adwords changes, seasonal changes, holidays, search engine traffic quality (relevance rather than numbers) etc.

Check CTR compared to prior months. If it's down, start watching your pages closely for unrelated ads being shown. Many of us have been complaining about that since late Sept. I'm in your boat... after steady earnings / CTR / impressions / eCPM, Oct. has tanked because of bad targeting. Hope they fix it soon.
