Disabled from Adsense and Reinstated

I want to share my experience with Adsense, I use AdSense since the program started and earn a modest revenue.

Last week I received an email from Google Adsense Support notifying me that my account is disabled because of Copyright Infrignment. I was shocked as I didn't think I did something wrong, but soon I realized I bought a website a few months back and I put adsense on that site which I believed is the offending site.

I sent Google an email and explained the situation, and today I got my account reinstated though I won't be able to have it fully functional before 48 hours.

I am happy with Google service! They listen!

I hope this would help anyone who is currently being disabled from AdSense.

Congratulations on the result. It's a good warning. I've put Adsense on sites I've bought and there's always the risk of inadvertent copyright infringement.

fyi, you can check for copyright infringement using plagairism engines available for free online; alternatively, you can take out unique snippets of text, put them in quotes and do a search using a regular search engine. with a little bit of diligence, you can determine whether the content is unique or not.

Great to hear somebody reporting on another reson than "invalid clicks". And I'm also glad everything worked out for you.

As a followup, I would very much like to know how bad the copyright infringement was. Was the site doing screen scraping from other sites, or was it "just" a matter of re-publishing another site's content?

Also, I would really like to know what kind of material was involved? Articles? Images? Games?

I'm asking, since I would really like to get an angle on a few sites that has been taking my content and not actually copying it, but re-arranging it while still using the same kind of public domain images (that I really cannot claim any copyright to).

it's a picture forums, though I don't really host the images as it's all posted by users and they use some photo blog or image hosting services.

i like to know, what's about a website placing adsense on a news website. Because the same content ( NEWS ) will be delivered to most of the websites through News Agencies worldwide. Is it copyright infringemnt? ( As getting the news from the agency by paying amount )

steve_c, you obviously reached parts at Google that others haven't been able to reach. Perhaps you could give them a tip or two on how to word the email so as to not get trapped in canned response hell.

My guess(NOT FACT):

I've heared other stories about being banned due to perchased sites but never heard Google reinstated. Maybe Google reinstated your AdSense account because it was copyright related problem, not invalid click problem. Who knows? Maybe someone reported to Google about copyright violation and Google had to do something which they don't wanted to. But think about it. Does Google really care about copyright justice more than their profit? Would they reinstated your account if it was for invalid clicks? Or is it sign of Google's policy change because YPN? Are they going to be softer?

I don't know. Just thinking about all the possiblities.
