I thought I'd seen everything but the other day I stumbled across the single most vile AdSense web site on the planet.

It's an anonymous surfing site that filters your web page, removes your frame busting code and AdSense, THEN inserts THEIR AdSense at the top of every web page.

I've already reported this to AdSense yesterday so we'll just wait and see how long this site continues to do these evil things or whether Google spanks them.

No, it's an anonymous surfing site, it's a pass thru proxy server sort of thing.

It allows you to examine a web site (like your competition) without them being able to trace the access back to your computer since there's this server in the middle.

Lot of anonymous services out there like this that are more, um, LEGIT than this one.

It's an that filters your web page, removes your frame busting code and AdSense, THEN inserts THEIR AdSense at the top of every web page.

We're talking about a specific site that was removing AdSense code and inserting THEIR AdSense code, not other issues related to proxy servers.

There is no difference between these sites. If there is a difference, it will be in name calling: anonymous surfing site and anonymous browing site.

As I just found out, the site I mentioned in the previous post has been volumteringly shut down today. No Adsense & HTTP 404 - File not found.

Actually they are providing a service and if they didn't modify my code I would have less objection to their adding their own ads. They are in China and must have the blessings of the repressive regime there.

I occasionally have used other proxy services and it is typical to get a floating banner along with the page served. I don't have a problem with that, either as surfer or surfed--sometimes you just don't want to leave footprints. It is ironic that this is run out of Beijing.

I have a proxy information page on my site, it gets lots of traffic from places like Iran and China.

Bill, you've given me reason to eat my words from a previous thread. I stated not long ago that I would never use a frame busting code on my site.

I retract my prior statement -

<script LANGUAGE="JAVASCRIPT" type="text/javascript">
if (top!= self) top.location.href = location.href;
</SCRIPT>

;)

It's a proxy service. The point is, you can sign up for one of these "services" and all your internet tracks are hidden from your ISP. In other words, you could visit buildatomicbombsforfunandterror.com or otherhighlyillegalsite.com and your ISP logs will say you only visited anonymoussurfingsite.com. Kinda cover your arse type service.

A VERY low percentage of people use these services, but still in all its very reminicent of EZULA type theft. It's stupid of them to do this, piggish.. Their money would NORMALLY come from people subscribing to the service...

Just a thought here... but I'm not comfortable knowing that they alter the source of my pages.

What if they were to alter my AS code in a manner that could result in my removal from the program. I implimented frame busting code.

I dont think frame busting will solve that, you need to check the domain name as that script only works IF it's a frame, it doesn't notice if the URL is funny. What you want would be a bit different than that.

I have a frame busting code on my page but this site removed it. I blocked their IP, works fine.

It is true that proxies are sometimes used by criminals for criminal purposes but to portray all those who use proxies as criminals displays a rather profound ignorance of large segments of the net.

There are many legitimate uses for them... And many repressive governments and ruthless companies that do far worse than even some of the criminals.

We have seen this site and know the difference between validly using a proxie server and the kind of theft witnessed.

Until this post, my knowledge about “anonymous proxy surfing” was limited to the words themselves. If I ever came across this site, it would not raise the flag - just another black on white site with Adsense on it.

This post is important not only for the discovery of this masterpiece, but for the opportunity to educate WW community about the anonymous proxy and similar violations that can affect anybody at anytime.

THE SHOW'S OVER FOLKS!

Don't sticky me for the URL anymore, they changed the site to something else.

Looks like we ran them out of business!

Ran them out of THAT business. My best information shows they operate out of the heart of Beijing and own 500 IP's. That's Tiananmen Square.

Given a little reflection it is probably a Chinese spy site. Individuals in China would not have access to the same information and no way of knowing that this proxy site is their own government watching them.

The AdSense was probably just a cover. Until we busted them! :)

500 IPs is nothing as long as they're sequential, that's just 2 c-blocks which can easily be blocked. Heck, if you want some I know where you can get 2 c-blocks for $US 200 total.

Now 500 random IPs scattered over 500 c-blocks, now THAT would be annoying.

... I am already in development for one of these type of site. Is this type of site not allowed on adsense? What exactly did he get kicked for? I would need to use show other contextual program?
