Evidence that Googlebot follows Adsense Mediabot

I have a forum site, where message listings are cached.
When user posts a new message, I redirect him to a message list, while passing a special parameter to rebuild the cache.

These "cache refresh" links are internal only, they are not found anywhere in the normal pages. However, I see some of them in Google index.

Seems like the only reason they are indexed is because
they have shown an Adsense ad. Mediabot visited them and told its friend Googlebot to stop by too.

This is both good news (since you don't really need to
submit each page to Google, just open it once), but also bad news, because the pages that are not meant to be indexed, can end up in Google anyway.

An alternative is that the people who visit those pages use IE and have the toolbar installed, thus google 'sees' the pages.
I strongly suspect that google *doesn't* follow mediabot.
It would be good business practice (and Not Evil) to divide those two arms of the business with a 'chinese wall', and I haven't observed anything that makes me suspect they aren't doing this.
It would be interesting to know somehow, wouldn't it :)

Then, there's also Opera browser which has Adsense windows built into its free version. That one has actually made me nervous, since I've used it to open some of my "for internal use" pages and then wondered if Google is gonna index them now. I calmed down after I added IP filtering for those pages though :)

I have to agree with you in theory I guess.

I had 9 mediabots about 2 hours ago and I have 15 mediabots going through right now..I see yahoo slurp daily, usually in the AM

I dont think this is true.

I have Adsense Mediabot visitng me everyday many times since last 4 months on two of my sites but not even a single visit from googlebot.

I think their visits are unrelated.

----

OR maybe adsense medibot detects and triggers some parameter, depending on the site, to call the googlebot.. So it may not be a universal fact. It may be conditional.

I agree with Sobriquet and believe that they are totally unrelated. My conclusion is based on an observation similiar to that of Sobriquet.

Whether or not Google use the Mediapartners spider to identify URLs to index, if you have inbound links to your site from almost ANYWHERE, Googlebot should be visiting your site at least once a month.
