I received a feedback on my site about dead link. No name or mail id was provided. JUST the link.

The link was clearly showing the url of one of the adsense advertiser.

How come I am concerned with if the link provided by adsense is dead or alive?

If I copy that link and paste in the browser, it may count as a fraud click from my computer.

Do you think it was an honest reporting or just another trick to get the publisher in trouble?

You should be concerned, because of google's smart pricing. If your visitors are clicking away at dead links, then I'm pretty sure you get paid but those clicks will never lead to a conversion. I would just block the advertiser until they get their site back up and running.

The spider of this strange link check will already have used this link and generated an invalid click.

I would try to find out from where this link report was performed and block this IP.

go find the adsense preview tool and use it. Locate the ad and click on it in the tool and your click won't be counted.
