In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results."
Does this refer to search results, or any results period?
I mean, this is kind of vague. There must be something I'm missing. Forums seem to be widely accepted as compliant for AdSense. Is a forum and a newsgroup not the same thing?
What if you make your own videos...? This must be referring to search results?
If you can't have AdSense ads on pages with videos that are original content, or on forums - I am in serious violation of the TOS.
I will be anxiously waiting for someone to clarify this for me. I've read the TOS several times, and I just can't believe I've never questioned this sentence. Perhaps I've been over this already and I'm losing my mind. The most likely option yet...
It seems to me that News Groups... Bulletin Boards, Forums, Message Boards, and all of the like are not allowed. I hope I am mistaken.
This makes me wonder what G thinks a newsgroup is, lol.
A newsgroup is just that, a newsgroup :) I'm sure they mean it in the very strict sense of the term. Meaning usenet/nntp type discussion areas.
This is very different from a forum that is an actual webpage.
A newsgroup has to be read with a special newsgroup reader (or Outlook Express).
It's basically another form of spamming. People spam email addresses, and the usenet newsgroups are full of spam messages. They probably don't want adsense ads posted in those specific types of newsgroups (like alt.binaries.pubconpics :)
