I had on Friday the first talk with a new client.

He is just runing several AdWords campaings with about 700.-EUR per month budget.

As we looked over the statistics of his account,
he asked a shocking question.

What means the box with "content" in the AdWords controll screen.

Oh, we all here are only an unknown little check mark.

From some of the ads I see on our sites I firmly believe that many advertisers just don't have a clue.

Business comes in - Google charges their credit cards and that's about the extent of their involvement.

What's really obvious to me is that they don't understand the difference between a content ad which may show up anywhere and a search ad which is very narrow.

Many places do not put in location information.

In search "Widget New York" doesn't really need location info however if that ad shows up on my site without the location info and it gets clicked then it's a wasted investment if the people are looking for "Widget South America" and he hasn't said he is in New York.
