Am I a Google employee?

Advice needed for credit application

I'm applying for a credit card. The only money I earn is through AdSense payments. For this purpose, am I self employed, or an employee of Google, since they pay me direct to my bank account?

Self Employed. They will probably want a copy of your last 2 years tax returns. The place where you are applying for credit that is. At least that is what I had to provide earlier this year when I bought my new Porsche 911.

We are 1099, which means that even though Google pays us, we aren't actually employees, but contractors. You are self employed.

Ebuilder,

You forgot to put a smiley after you mentioned the Porsche...

They did that for buying a car?

You must've used bank financing as the car dealership just pulled my credit profile and that was it - done deal.

BTW, if you ever want to watch someone twitch in a car dealership, tell them you'll take it right now if they'll charge it on your Amex or Visa card. Did that once just for the frequent flier miles I got on the card, loved the look on their face when it cleared....

And to the OP, you're definitely NOT a Google employee.

Bill -- my first big purchase was the same deal, but it happened to be a boat. At the time I didn't have much credit history, and couldn't even get anyone to pay attention to me until I had two years of tax returns, plus a few months worth of bank statements, copies of checks, stubs, etc.

I could give you one of my cards ;)

Just kidding. But every bank here wants to give me a visa, master card, american express, and I don't even have a salary (still stuying).

I have gotten credit (not with a major card company though) with a print out of my AdSense earnings record.

Unfortunately subsequent AdSense earnings have been very unreliable, fortunately for me it doesn't matter.
