I've barely touched $50 a day (one month way back) and if I hit $100, I doubt I'd be spending time here ;)
But I don't spend a cent in advertising either.
I started with a single site that has been around since 1999. That site nows makes over $100 a day(on it's own). When I first added the code, it made about $16.00 a day right off the bat. I don't pay anything for advertising, but I do pay a full time employee now(since July 2005).
My newest site, started 6 months ago, has almost gotten to the $16.00 a day mark(where my first one started) so... since they are in the same niche, I expect that one year from now, that site will also be making $100 a day(on it's own). And, will have taken 18 months.
Between myself and my help we work about 80 hours+ a week writing new content and maintaining existing content. My niche is in the 8-12 cents a click range.
It took about 8 months from the first inclusion of AdSense code to hit $100/day, but that's not my average. It fluctuates a bit, but I average about $90/day now and have for the last 3 months or so.
I think it's important to note that there is a wide variance between sites in terms of AdSense revenue. My smallest site make the most money, and it has the fewest links (that I actively acquired... can't say about scrapers and that lot). It's a very popular niche, though, without a proportionately high level of competition. Kind of the "perfect storm" niche, if you will. I haven't been able to recreate it... yet. If you can crack that nut, though, sky's the limit with AdSense, I think.
I highly doubt anyone is bringing in $100 a day off a single site.
Not everyone uses the 100-sites-each-earning-a-buck-a-day strategy. Lots of people including myself make this kind of money off a single site (without paying for traffic).
As for the original topic: The answers cannot possibly be relevant to your situation, so why even ask the question?
Y'all should probably post how many sites you are running to make it a fair comparison.
I highly doubt anyone is bringing in $100 a day off a single site.
Also might consider comparing how much you are *spending* to bring in that kind of traffic in the first place.
There are a lot websites that were well established and profitable before adsense came along.
As jomaxx mentioned, not everyone pays for traffic.
I have a site that makes over $100 per day without any paid traffic. I'm sure I'm not the only one in this position.
Then all of the updates and google dancing that site is lucky if it brings in $50 a day. (High content site aimed at homeowners). The site became the victim of scrapper crawling and now is in the 'supleMENTAL results'
So I have diversified and am building small sites that each bring in about $7-$10 a day.
Just keep building, build, build, build
One thing that you will find is that the more you earn the lower your CPC becomes.
One word of warning to all new-commers never, never take your adsense earnings for granted. The adsese road is really a roller coaster and many publishers can fall by the wayside. One minute you can be in the UPS club and the next you are counting the cents. I am wearing the T-Shirt.
as said, how long it did take after putting adsense on your site is relatively irrelevant and misleading.
more interesting, how long the site exists.
my site exists since 2,5 years professionaly and after 1,5 years of adsense on my site, i managed to get over the 100$ hurdle constantly.
would make sense if people could clarify this.
