I keep reading people talking about how their earning got effected (some positive some negative) after their site was manually review by google.

My question is: how do you tell (or, can you?) when your site has been manually reviewed.

By checking your logs.

If the Google hit is not a bot then it is a person.

If the Google hit is not a bot then it is a person.

Not all requests from the Google IP range are humans working at the Googleplex. One of the lesser known services Google offers is a WAP proxy server. This proxy can be used by wap users to access the internet using a mobile phone and uses IP's in the standard Google range. There might be some other similar services in their IP ranges. So look very carefully at the user agent string to determine if a real Googler examined your site or just a proxy or cache.

No luck, I never realised mediapartner visits so often. I will track it down somehow.

No, it doesn't matter that much. My cpm has been rather high lately (I mean about 50% above average for last couple of weeks), I want to find out if it has anything to do with manual review.
