"Copyrighted Material
In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results."
My site is based on a game and I record videos for it all the time I have over 300 videos for it and many images all recorded/edited by me and only me. The thing is google approved this site and I have not made any changes to it besides adding more content to it. Should I be able to add the ads to these pages or would I get in trouble. Because I read that its basically to avoid people from sueing you because of copyright infridgement, but everytthing is my property and I am not going to sue myself.
What about linking to a video that opens a Media Player were the file is played or they download it to the pc and view it, but the video does not show on the actual page with the actual ad just a link to it.
Yes its kinda stupid to ask, but I see this all the time were people have google ads on pages with images and videos.
(Ex. A couple topics away from mine there is a link to a photography site that is tons of images wouldn't that be breaking TOS?)
So many questions....I am so confused now....I think I confused myself more than I wanted to be :/ maybe someone can straighten this out.
You may want to look into Google Video: [upload.video.google.com...]
There is an FAQ: [upload.video.google.com...]
It looks pretty good and you may want to consider integrating this with your site. Not sure about the ads though.
This thread has some good info: [webmasterworld.com...]
Stu
I looked at that topic and miguelito states that "the other part is for hotlinked images/videos from official sites like amazon etc;, too many webmasters permit that or donīt protect themselves against people using tags for displaying images on their forum pages and in reality, you can be sued for copyright theft unless you have specific permission to show the image. "
If this is true then that would mean that I should have full rights to put my ads were I link to my videos/images. Anyone else have any experience with that. I emailed Google about the images part mainly for another site that I am going to be starting up I guess I should email about the videos, but from the looks of it I should be fine.
A different case would be if you're recording stages from a videogame. Then they allow it no problem, because youre giving promotion to that game.
