Big G states:
//In order to avoid associations with copyright claims, website publishers may not display Google ads on web pages with MP3, Video, News Groups, and Image Results.//

Can anyone clarify what that menas exactly?

well MP3 and news groups means they are covering themselves for any potential association with warez sites or illegal downloads ( although if you visit such sites, you will find that many adwords users are illegal download sites offering latest hollywood movies etc and google does nothing to stop them advertising using their services)

the other part is for hotlinked images/videos from official sites like amazon etc;, too many webmasters permit that or donīt protect themselves against people using tags for displaying images on their forum pages and in reality, you can be sued for copyright theft unless you have specific permission to show the image.

Whoa.... I have a forum & people post photos. I have NO way of knowing if these are their photos, or photos they just took off the net.... are you saying that as the forum owner *I* could be responsible and sued for copyright theft?
In that case, how does anyone run a forum-- I see people post links, photos, copied/pasted text excerpts, etc. all the time on forums.....

Well now that I seen the post above ^^ wouldn't you think all those free forum hosting places would be worried? proboards ezboard invisionboard all the free sites that offer boards for free they just have ads on them they all have google ads and alot of them have been in buisness for a long long time. So if it was a major deal don't you think these companys wouldn't be allowed to do it anymore? I dunno just a thought.

Hi,

For my site I make all contributors sign a document confirming that the material they post is theirs (or at least theirs to assign copyright of).

Rgds
