Report Discrepancies

I've noticed that there are serious discrepancies between the report summaries page (Today's Earnings) and the expanded reports when I click the link -- "top channels " and then "view all AdSense for content channels »" It shows several dollars difference and they rarely reconcile -- it is doing this on the monthly reports as well. The report generated at "view all AdSense for content channels »" seems to be the correct amount, but the erroneous amount is being captured into the final reports and there are several dollars difference. The Payment History reflects shows the lower of the two... There seems to be a significant problem here and I hope it gets fixed ASAP -- before erroneous payments are made.

This could be caused by two factors.

First you must wait for the total day's numbers to be finalized (following day) before doing your check.

Double check that none of your channels are duplicates. In other words do you have one tracking URL and one channel for the same page. If so both totals will show in the aggregate report.

Are you tracking by URL with www. in front. If so it will not track the clicks that came to mysite.com without the www. I had one of our sites set up this way and it made quite a bit of difference at the end of the month.

Also with today's earnings, it could be accessing different stat servers. You will often see different stats for the current day when you view the single day versus the month by day.

You can even see different updated stats when you have two browser windows (or two different browsers) logged in and you hit reload at the same time.

This reason, as well as the ones Tropical Island outlined, are why AdSense says wait 24 hours for the stats to be finalized. It has always been this way.

It appears that I tracked some items by URL that share the same channels as some other pages and that those tracked by URL were backed out of the total in some reports. I presumed that those items tracked by URL would supercede the channel tracking and be separated in all reports. I guess I was wrong and I missed any mention of this in the instructions -- I'll go back and look to see if there was any mention of this. In any case, if Google can see that there are duplicates then it should signal this occurence with an asterisk* and show the same totals in all reports for the same periods regardless. I will need to do more research on these reports to determine if this is the case. Thanks for the response.

When I first installed AS, I set up the a site channel and then individual page channels for reporting. Imagine my dismay to realize I was only earning half of what I thought I was due to overlapping reports. And this right after I told off the boss and walked out bragging I was becoming an internet magnate! DOH!

too many of these posts.

At the end of the day (or next) the reports are accurate.

No problems at all.
