Does adsense deliver regional Ads?

Want US based ads getting UK

I have a site thats content is entirely aimed at the US market. I, however, live in the UK and have UK based hosting and have a UK registered company. When I view my adsense adverts on the site they are UK centric, is this just for me or are US viewers getting UK based adverts aswell?

If they are getting UK ads can this be changed to show US ads. I couldn't see anything in the adsense site that indicated either way.

Any thoughts would be welcomed, perhaps even some well informed ones as well :)

What is everyone else getting?

Just as an addition.. adsense says it crawls the site when you ad the ad code, does this add parts of the site into the main Google index if they are not there yet or is the adsense crawl kept seperate?

Thanks a bunch

Nacho,

US users will be seeing US targeted ads, just like You and I would see UK targeted ads.

Thats how the system is set up, although can be confusing not knowing who you are up against :)

The fact that You or Your hosting is in the UK, is irrelevant.

to see US ads, try using www.anonymizer.com

The crawling is by two different bots, and Google's official word is that having AdSense on your site (or advertising in Adwords) will not affect your positioning in the serps.

However, some have reported that sites running AdSense might get into the index quicker, but that could also be attributed to a number of other reasons too.

Thanks Shak and Jenstar,

Now I know that the ads are US based I can get back to increasing the traffic and planning my retirement ;)

I had the feeling the bots were different because I was getting targeted ads on pages an hour after I added the code but the pages are not in google yet.

are US viewers getting UK based adverts as well?

The free 7.20 version of the Opera browser currently shows the US version Adsense ads (in their ad bar) regardless of where you are.

It's one way to see the first two ads that a US user would probably see on each non-dynamic page. Mostly the US ads are different from what we see in Europe.

Just to clarify, unlike normal Adsense Opera doesn't change the ads when only the dynamic part of an url (after the '?') is the only thing that changes.
