this week was the worse in last two years! ( august overall was good - except after last sunday)

Earnings and CPM dropping and i am today at only 76 cents in total of all my sites!

This is sure a drowning feeling.

Well, between the coverage of New Orleans, money going to Red Cross, and Labour Day weekend coming up... not to mention soaring gas prices which have to be at least temporarily restricting consumer spending... I think at the very least some advertisers are temporarily spending campaigns, but this is just a guess.

Our revenue since Sunday has been good, but today is starting much lower than normal. I would wait 'til next Tuesday/Wednesday after Labour Day, etc. before hitting any panic buttons.

It's the final week of summer vacation, in the U.S. it's the week before Labor Day, and college students are moving back to school or settling into their new routines. Chances are, you'll see improvement in the next week or so (unless your site is about summer-only vacation spots or barbecue grills).

Yep - last week of Hols in the UK too.

Hopefully improvements next week - and then the run up to Chrimbo :)

Make or Break time for my business probably coming up.

Here in asia my epc trebled since the second week of august and is consistent up to date. I hope it stays this way.

Traffic/impressions are down for me, and I too suspect that advertisers are holding off until after Labor Day weekend here in the U.S. Plus the Hurrican Katrina damage and wall-to-wall news coverage has folks away from their computers.

Down here as well. Don't trouble yourself over it. This end of summer week or two has been historically bad for most publishers since this program started.

It's just that most people take off and pause their campaigns.

Past few days have been down for me also. Still, August was the best month ever for me.

Looks like Labor day weekend is going to stink though.

I decided only to check my AS stats at the end of each day until Labor Day is over. This has been the sanest day I've had in MONTHS! LOL And yep, as expected, everything was lower. Made about 20% less than normal. But hey, killer hurricane + major U.S. holiday = less income. Not sweating it.

Take a bet?

Personally, I'm betting against myself. I could barely hold out today. I told the wife to have some duct tape handy so she could tape my arms to my sides. She got this really evil gleam in her eyes and giggled a lot. Should I be scared?

Nope - August was a great month for me. Last two weeks were fanastic. No complaints here.

Hmm I really hope this is only a conjunctural situation and not a Smart Pricing evolution ...

My revenue is down the drain by 30% since 1st of sept

Today my eCPM on the starting day is 25% of what it was....

Your rankings are unchanged?

rankings havebeen almost same. i am not getting too much benefit from google, that is nt important . i get my traffic from msn genrally, where i have top rankings.

i am checking all my stuff and recent changes that might have brought this downfall

I am seeing this too -

Rankings unchanged, but visitors from Europe and North America down by 50% since around April 20th.*

* Rankings unchanged as far as I can see, Ive got too many pages to check rankings for individually. Casual checks over the last two weeks with random phrases show rankings unchanged, and new pages ranking immediately.

Total revenue minus 12 percent each week for three weeks by now, after having had my best week ever after 6th August! I hope it will become better in September - otherwise I might have to rethink my AS strategy.

Down here too by 50% compared to August. I started in the last week of July so I'm still getting a feel for things...

It's nice to see others in the same boat and making posts about it so that new people like myself don't end up worrying too much. (I was thinking maybe it was just me...) :-)

I posted this in another thread, but I'm considerably. I'm taking a much harder hit mostly because I'm new to this. I'd say currently I'm only getting about 10% of the earnings I was. I would imagine it probably does have something to do with Katrina, Labor Day, Google's New thing, and with this combo, I'll just have to wait and see what happens next week--or next month.

it's only the 3rd of september... waaay too early to draw any kind of conclusions about anything.

Its a Holiday, kids are going back to school, and virtually the whole country is thinking/watching/ talking about the New orleans disaster and gas prices.

Think about it. It has nothing to do with pricing or ranking changes, or the other worries in this thread.

People are just too busy.

I am down to $40-45 from $65/day. But that began at the beginning of August.

But hang on, the whole of the internet does not start and stop in the United States! There are more people outside the U.S using the Internet than in the U.S.

It is also noteworthy that the WEB was born in Europe not the U.S!

we've lost around 30% of our revenue as well in last 3 days... though it is a drop in traffic combined with eCPM drop across the board. Australian based sites...

We can not afford the Google AdWords anymore = what used to be $.05 is now $.20 to $.50 - so basically we are being crucified and the business and family lose out.

Now I have to find a way to make $3000 extra a month and have 3 weeks to do it in! Needless to say a lot of depression going around our house...

We will probably have to give up our house and move to a trailer park now... though are working hard 16-17 hours / day to avoid a complete meltdown of our business...

I posted awhle ago about not counting on Google $$$ - but after 3 years we figured it was stable enough to improve our lifestyle just a little bit... WRONG! We stand to lose everything now...

>>>There are more people outside the U.S using the Internet than in the U.S.

Maybe in aggregate, but that's a lot of languages and regions. You have to break that into markets in order to make a meaningful comparison. The US market is undisputedley the largest and wealthiest market.

I've done campaigns for the UK, Germany, France, and Spain and the numbers are puny in comparison. The US Market is floating a lot of boats. If the US market goes down, and you're marketing in English, then you are going to feel it.

cyanweb,

Very sorry to hear about your experience. I wish you better fortune in the near future. So, I guess Google is charging more for some AdWords, and is cutting people a break on others.

Without requesting info about you our your business, do you think Google is charging you more because you have more competition, or is it because it's a smaller niche and Google charges you more? I'm reading conflicting stories on the web, and so I'm confused.
