The New Adblock System

How are your results?

On July 22nd I went to the four picture affair at the top of the page with the four ad adblock below it.

Sometime in August G went to the sometimes less than 4 ad adblocks.

In those days of July I averaged $25.83 per day. In August my CTR dropped by 9%. My average day through the 30th is $23.56 per day. In that time period I didn't change anything.

That's not enough time for a true test, but maybe we can get an idea with more people reporting. Tell us how you did (if you haven't done anything to contaminate your results).

Overall this month is about 16% above last month.

The first couple of days after they launched it seemed to impact my revenues negatively.

Then about 4 days later, with no other changes, AdSense suddenly started posting record days for a week and revenue has stayed very high since.

Could be the new optimizations, could be more AdWords advertising, maybe competition in my segment of AdWords heated up, really too many factors to know just what's going on but I'm not complaining.

incrediBILL, are you using the four pictures at the top? When I did that my CTR shot up 40%. Maybe I was due for a bit of cooling off.

It is my opinion that showing a single ad on a leaderboard (for example), not being one of those expanded text ads, doesn't look very good (too much blank space). I think at least 2-3 ads look better...

What do you guys mean by 'four pictures' - do you mean a leaderboard style with 4 ads?

Did you guys mean 4 pictures or cartoons above the leaderboard?

Pictures and adblocks? My guess is that the original post referred to a 4-ad leaderboard with the wide, horizontal adlinks line underneath. With the 4-ad leaderboard, it would line up nicely, but with one, two, or three ads like you sometimes get now, it won't line up with the horizontal adlinks block anymore.

Jolly_Roger, you're right. I should have said 728 x 90 Leaderboard. Four photos that match your content or theme with the leaderboard below. It was discussed here before. The photos draw visitors attention to the ads. But you have to do it in a way that they don't think they are clicking through to someting directly related to the photo. It's been approved by G if done in that manner.
