Hello everyone,

My content rich site was doing great with Link Units, but during past 3-4 days I noticed that the Link Unit targeting is not that good anymore and therefore the eCPM dropped.

ASA would you please have the Adsense team consider the targeting of Link Unites?

Has anyone also seen the same problem?

Many thanks.

I've been seeing a lot of:

Ads by Google
--- View ads about:

It almost looks like this is being treated like a CPM ad and perhaps its paying 1 cent per 100 views?
Since I've been seeing this a lot, I've been getting 1 cent earnings with no clicks indicated.

bumpski I had emailed google about that and they told me that, that is shown when adsense cant find relevant words on the website to target.

"The link unit that you have seen will only be shown on a publisher's site when Google is unable to return relevant ad topics to your link unit. If we are unable to return relevant link topics we look for your specified alternate ad and if no alternate ad has been specified, the link unit will show an empty search box labeled with "View ads about." Users can enter their own search terms into this box to view ads related to their query, and you will receive earnings for clicks on these ads."

Thanks

It actually shows the typical ad set in between showings of the search box, so who knows

It's the end of the month and budgets may be throttling back ads. But you would think it would be a little more consistent, rather than coming and going.

I'd bet a lot of Adwords advertisers switched to Google's automatic budgeting feature this month due to the aggravation caused by the Adwords changes. I had switched some campaigns months ago.

The automatic budgeting may be causing today's problems that will probably be gone tomorrow. Google may have over spent for everyone so there won't be many ads today!
