Adsense Vs. Burst & Fastclick

How does it compare?

Hello everyone,
I have been running Adsense for a few months now and have been happy with how it's been going. But as Adsense is the first ad network that I have ever used on my site, I dont know how it compares to the others. I get enough impressions for Burst and Fastclick and was wondering if those might provide a better payout than AdSense, and was wondering what other people's experiences were with these.

Thanks for your help
Aaron

It all depends on the type of content that you have. Some general topics do not lend well to Adsense. If you are with Burst check their forum and you will see what types of sites brag that they do well with Adsense, and what types of sites complain that Adsense does not work for them (and there are some).

In my site, I do not put Adsense in rotation with Burst and Fastclick. I run leaderboards exclusively for Adsense, while banners and skys are for Burst and Fastclick.

Just experiment and see what works for you.

My site lends well to Adsense. My daily earnings from Burst is not even enough to get me a ride in the subway, but my daily Adsense earnings allows me to buy a cashmere sweater and even eat steak :o)

I was with Burst for years.... I have made more money with Adsense in months than with Burst in years.

Towards the end... I just gave up and decided to serve my own ads (and build my own ad rotation software).

You have to see it from an aggregate point of view. IMHO, the best performing ad space should go to adsense. However, this does not mean that you can not use the other ad networks to fill all of your inventory.

Depending on the layout of your site, you can get at least two banners and a skyscraper going without looking tacky, but you are limited to one adsense per page. I have this down to one sky and one banner on my site since the money I could get for the below the scroll was not even worth it for me to show it. Therefore, the sky goes to adsense and the top banner goes to Burst -> Fastclick. Would I have made more money if there was an adsense code that allowed me to show a total of six ads divided between the two ad spaces? Absolutely!

On a three column site layout, I have a leaderboard from google and a 728 banner from Fastclick on top of most pages, with a Fastclick skyscraper, popunder and invue ad coded into each page. The popunder and invues are only served once per user/per day, no matter how many page views they see.

With 12,000 page views/day, I'm finding that Fastclick nets about half what I make with Adsense. Between them both, I'm very happy with ad revenue right now.
