Hi there,

I just discovered a program that avoids to save the site and it encrypts the source code so that nobody can steal, save, and most importantly see your adsense code. While, this sounds like such a great idea, I am worried about adsense team since they might want to see my publisher code occasionally when they visit my web site. Before I email them about this issue I brought it up here and just wanted to learn if somebody is doing this or what are your comments.

Sincerely..

what is the big deal that the ID is visible? not like they're going run ads on their site for you.. and even if they wanted to, its against the TOS to use an adsense account on a website with no permission.

Troublemakers don't care. They may not even have an Adsense account themselves but they'll use your ID and post ads on an adult site. ;)

You shouldn't make any changes to your AdSense code, so you might be shooting yourself in the foot simply to protect yourself from a very unlikely threat.

In addition to manual checks, I'd bet anything that Google's MediaPartners bot also scans your AdSense code for compliance. Thus IMO you should get an example of this implementation and show it to Google before proceeding.

This is not allowed and secondly everyone will still be able to see your source code, although it will require a bit more effort.

A right click on the ad unit will show your publisher ID, as would clicking "Ads by Google".

Of course, there is always the possible side effect that AdSense wouldn't be able to figure out how it was encrypted and not credit you for any clicks ;)

And the terms say you cannot make *any* changes to the javascript, and encrypting it would definitely change that script.
