How long for site filters to kick in?

I've watched some top ranking ads that don't pay well, signed up with them as affiliate and added them to my exclusion list. How long until they stop beeing shown? It's now 300impressions later and they still show.

I think it should be pretty much instantaneous. Look over your settings again and check everything is ok. I have check the FAQ on the Google Adsense site and it doesn't give any indication. Check everything and then drop them an email.

How do you actually know what ads to filter out? I'd like to do this, since I see a steady ctr but with decreasing income.

I've blocked some and it took about 30 minutes or so until I noticed it.

The site I'm running AdSense on is a destination-specific travel site - I've blocked ads relating to other destinations, especially destinations greater than 12,000 miles away from mine. Perhaps I get less of a chance to gain revenue, but I'm also not annoying my users with ads that are completely unrelated to what they're looking for.

Well. I had some get blocked almost instantly others I added a few days ago and they're still not blocked. Just depends I guess.

I'm having the same problem. I tried to block an ad 15 hours ago, but it is still displaying on my site. The ad is so inappropriate that I've had to remove the AdSense code from certain pages altogether.

I've even listed several versions of the URL to filter (with the www., without the www.) etc. but nothing works.

Same thing here. Some ads are blocked within a few hours. But I have a couple of ads that I blocked over two days ago and they are still being displayed. I'm going to have to pull the code if they aren't removed pretty soon - and I don't really want to have to do that.

I've even run into a problem with one hostname it won't even let me block. I sent Google an e-mail about it but it's Independence Day so I doubt I'll hear anything until Monday.

I'm too lazy to eliminate and figure out which one it wants.

I blocked them because they showed top stop on each page, booking realted and they have an affiliate program... I signed up with them, it was something I was looking for anyways. ;)

Well, currently you can't filter out URLs that start with a number. Google is working the issue.

Ahhh, well that certainly explains why I am unable to block 3 sites at the moment. Thanks for sharing that.

The one I'm trying to block does not have a number in the URL, but it is an .org site. I thought maybe Google will not permit blocking of .org sites -- is anyone else having trouble with that?

(Believe me, there is nothing "official" about the site I'm trying to filter; it's inappropriate, especially for the pages it's appearing on, and it's driving me crazy that I can't block it.)

I wonder just how much Google monitor what ads we block... If someone was to block large amounts of ads and play around with things to get higher earnings would Google catch on?

Fairla,

I emailed AdSense and they forwarded the issue to their engineers. A couple days later I got an email saying that their engineers are working on resolving a problem with the filters.

They said that they have a temporary fix in place that will update the filters every 24 hours or so. They're working on a permanent fix. I'm pleased with their responsiveness on this issue.

Bether, yes, I got the same letter from Google. It was very vague, but I am pleased that Google replied and that they're working on the problem. Google is such a great company.

I wondered the same so I emailed google. They told me up to 24 hours, which was about right. They say they are working on reducing this delay.
