I have been having a read of the new Program Policies and there are what I consider to be MAJOR changes that were not too apparent in the TOS.....

They are saying NO pop unders on publishers sites.

Site may not include:
Pop-unders or exit windows

Also.... And this is the major one.

The urls have to be visible. I was hiding them with the colors and Google said that was fine but now it would appear that they have to be shown.

Elements on a page must not obscure any portion of the ads, and the ad colors must be such that the ad text and URL are visible.

I have checked the coding and all 4 ad formats now carry the url. In the past I think the Inline rectangle did not carry the url. It does now.....

Google needs to focus on increasing payout for publishers before they start being more restrictive.

Pop-unders are fairly lucrative for my site (though granted, don't pay as much as AdSense) but now I'll have to remove them.

So this is only applicable to new publishers? As you mentioned, there is no sign of this in the TOS...

Never mind...I guess you agree to the policies when you agree to the TOS. Time to convert that pop-under to a pop-up!

Removing pop-unders, I can understand. But do I also have to remove the pop-up ads.

They say : Pop-ups that interfere with site navigation, obscure AdWords ads, change user preferences or prompt a user to change his/her preferences (such as a user’s home page), or are for downloads

I believe the above statement was there right since the commencement of the program. I have both pop-ups and pop-unders on my site and Google never said anything about them.

But now the new policy suggests laying off the pop-unders.

I am quite annoyed...... I am spending this afternoon changing everything.

They will probably wait a while and then start pulling up sites on this.

They have hidden this thing about the pop unders under a bit of a smoke screen with the new TOS.

The thing is the program policies are just as important as the TOS.

Still money talks.... so off come the popups...

I just checked one of my sites that uses the leaderboard format and it's still not showing urls. The colors for that ad code are set to have the url show up.

I have been noticing this.....

If one ad is showing then it gives the url. If there are 4 then it is not showing. Maybe there is some googling going on
