i noticed every time after 3am images ads (particularly one) appear on my pages then doesn't appear after 8am or so.

this happens all the time, so im assume they are scheduled ads. since they are image ad (skyscrapper) it is probably CPM ad,.. obviously they appear on my site during offpeak hours when there is less traffic.. im debating to block this ad because it doesnt appear when i am pushing 7k pages per hour during the day.

should i leave the ad alone? its hard to tell if i am even earning much when this ad appears during graveyard hours.

It's appearing because there are no better-paying ads available. A lot of advertisers turn their ad campaigns off after peak hours, so after 3 a.m. the higher-paying ads are gone from your niche, and they don't come back until 8 a.m. Experiment, by all means, but you'll probably find that the ads that replace the image ads don't pay any better than the image ads.

hmm guess i didn't think about that.. but i think it is a coincidence it happens at the same time, all the time.

i think google should be more strict with image ads specially when dealing with image size skyscrapper.. you'd think a huge image taking up an entire ad unit would be worth more than a text ad.

i mean google has to be earning more from image ads than text ads, otherwise everyone would be serving image ads. doesn't make sense.

I've yet to see an image ad on my site, but I've also noticed that the ads tend to be different at various times of the day. Obviously it is down to advertisers using peak times effectively - just like TV does. I'd leave well alone.
