I've been using adsense for about three weeks now and I'm a little optimistic. I'm getting a little excited over the $2.00 break point. Now I'm trying to get to $3.00 per day. Page ctr is at 8%. I've got 5 sites but theres only one doing any good and I'm selling on that site. I'm using SEO weekly but what else can a newbie do? I'm learning so much from you people. THANKS.

Keep building content and getting links to the pages you built that have the keywords you want to rank for in the links. It's only a matter of time then.

When you say 'keep getting links to your pages', you mean seo or what?

He means exchange links with other website owners. But make sure you get links from people that are on topic with what your site is about.

Don't join link farms. It really is not worth it anymore.

Just slowly and steadily build links. Maybe a few a week.
Add more content every week. Be diligent and write good content and you will improve over time. Get that up to $200 a day and your retired :).

Why stop at $200 a day? Heck, why stop at $2000?

Thats true. At $200 dollars a day you should be able to just sit home all day and write more content to get you up to $2K a day and so on. They key is getting rid of that JOB first.

Is there any kind of advertising you can't do such as pop-unders, etc.

BTW, I know link farms are not an advantage, but do you guys believe it can be a disavantage for the page rank?

They can be a disadvantage not only to PR but to the overall health and welfare of your site. Google isn't big on link farms and may even penalize them for it. You don't want your site associated in any way with a website google has spanked. Do a search on "bad neighborhoods" and then do your best to stay away from them.

Learn how to search... In time it will become your best friend...

How does the Google algorithm adapt? On a day with really bad ctr I earned the most, the next day the ctr improved and the earning fell 50%. Today we are semmingly heading for a higher ctr and again worse earnings.

I hope this is ment to be that the highest ctrs bring you on the long run more income and it's not just determined by the ctr.

How does the Google algorithm adapt?

It "adapts" by google engineers telling it to adapt. This isn't AI - not yet anyway..

Sorry I do not understand, I am not native English. Is adapt the wrong word? My education is in something which uses the word quite often, so my apologies if the word is misplaced.

I would have thought that one would evidently program that you make a kind of genetic algorithm on a target variable.

You say change a bit see if it's better than yesterday, if yes good go in this direction if not try something else and so on.

Occasionally one would try something completely different, so one would make sure one isn't caught in a local optimum.

My question concerned: "what is optimised?"; the publishers price, the CTR, the eCPM, or an algorithm that is a model of all?

The exact details will be classified but sometimes there are rumours or one can deduct it from the stats.
