One person can only write so many pages. I am assuming that the vast majority of webmasters work alone...am I wrong?
I would like to get some ideas on how to speed up the content creation. It is important that it's not just blah lorem ipsum content though. Valuable, targeted content.
One thing I did to get my visitors to create valuable content for me -
My site users are very proud of the widgets they own, and more than willing to show them off. I created a way for my users to upload pictures of their widgets, and include detailed information.
To encourage people to add their widgets to the site, I made it so that the most recently added widget appears on the main page of the site. They like the recognition...their 15 minutes of fame.
Furthermore, to encourage them to link to my site (their widget) on other related websites. I made a visible "popularity" rating that displays the number of views their widget has received. I also allow users to sort the widgets by popularity in the members widget index.
This has generated LOTS of useful pages that are starting to rank well in the SE's. Because the widgets are so specific in nature, I receive VERY related AdSense adverts, and the CTR is phenominal on these pages.
This will also keep the Search Engine hooked and website Fresh.
My only large concern at this point is that someone will upload an inappropriate image, and it will be on the front page. Today I will probably make it so that the 5th or 6th most recent added widget will display on the main page. This way I'll have time to catch it before it hits "Prime Real Estate"

I like the idea of commenting on articles. That would keep the spiders busy. I like it - thank you.
I think most of the sites can have the provision for users to add the content, only problem is spam. To some extend you can control it by using IPs but still its a major problem.
The other major problem is when you want to allow users to upload images( u know what I mean).
If we are able to solve or control them then we will see dynamic sites coming up almost every where.
Imagine this site without moderators and you will know what I am talking about.
Thanks
Bye
One way I have reduced spam is to make all of the information that the users fill out pre-formatted. They fill in optional fields like:
Widget Brand:
Widget Age:
Widget Add-ons:
...and so on
This way, provided they enter the proper information into the proper fields, I can arrange the data on the page any way that I chose to with PHP.
I have thought further on the SPAM issue, and if it becomes a problem - one make it so that the user has to be a registered member for at least 30 days to add their widget. It may slow the rate of widgets added, but if it's less spammy it will be more AdSense friendly (and a reason to come back)
