Does the filter work?

Hi all,

Does the adsense filter work? I've submitted domains in format "domain.com" and after a few days, those ads still appear... I have today added "www.domain.com" as well, maybe this will work...

Any tips or advice are appreciated.

You have to enter the URL in the filter list EXACTLY as it appears in the ad. Use Google's preview tool to find the URL if it does not appear in the ad. I had 2 different ads from a competitor on my site and entered both in my filter list. One disappeared immediately but the other stayed for days. I kept entering the same address over and over and then realised I was entering www. before the domain name. The ad only started with the domain name and not www. As soon as I realised this and entered it exactly, it disappeared.

Also, make sure you are using the destination URL in your filter list, which may be different from the URL displayed in the ad or the URL of the final page you end up on when you click on an ad.

You may already know this, but you can find instructions for determining the destination URL on:

Does there seem to be a delay with this? I must be impatient.

My single most busiest page is showing ads for Augers... I have SEO'd the page as much as I can without compromising the content of the page, in an attempt to get rid of this ad without filtering it.

Finally I gave in and added it to my filter list (it's the only one on my filter list). I have used the preview tool, and it has the same URL as the ad lists. I have blocked it as "domain.com" along with a very specific, case sensitive url (the exact url as seen in the ad link).

No luck thus far. The ad persists - and it won't go away, and needless to say - there's not a large market for Auger attachments (especially on a non-related site)

Had I thoroughly read the page that ASA posted a link to, I would have read that it can take 4 or so hours to take effect.

Works for me.

Now I want a filter to block the deluge of acne treatments Google has decided are relevant! Honestly all the airbus spares on Ebay, or the new and used dead popes are probably more relevant to my site than acne treatments.
