I noticed Google has planned a new AdSense Optimization Webinar. This time it will take place on August 3, 1:00am (GMT +01:00).

To enter the webinar you'll need to enroll at
[googleonline.webex.com...]

I hope that there will be a transcript available to read later. Once again they have scheduled a Webinar when I have to be at my job. I work evenings.

First of all sorry, this may be a "stupid" question, but I never been to a webseminar before.

How does i function?

I have enrolled, and been accepted, got a password and got into the page in the mail ( a webex page )

Will somone tell me what to do then?

Thanks

Read the e-mail:

To join the event more quickly, you can set up the software that you need to join the event before the event starts. Go to the URL above, then click Set Up.

I tried to signup for the last one but was unable to because I am too stupid or the interface is.

Odd, because I program interfaces for a living :(

How was the webinar? Any good points discussed? Was it worth the time if they have another one?

I was late joining :( I heard the Q&A. Some guy kept asking about developing his site around high paying keywords :) That part was amusing . . .

I look forward to feedback from anyone who saw the powerpoint.

I was on the last one -- These are GREAT! Google thank you for making these available, I hope there are many more to come!

Yes, Google's experts said three times the answer can be found with google.com :-) They mentioned Adwords estimator only briefly, while that was the obvious answer.

I didn't really hear anything new. Below are my notes, FWIW.

Key is: experimenting and measuring.

Best: above the fold on the left. Upper left corner is first thing visitors see. Bottom of large body of text works good as well.

Wider ad formats perform best. Visitors digest more text without line break.
1. 336x280
2. 300x250
3. 160x600
(provided they fit)

Colors should blend. Rotate colors to avoid ad blindness (but use colors that fit).

Not only put ads on content page and index pages, but also on: forms, shopping and search.

Use channels. Combine custom channels and URL channels.

CPM based ads may perform good on pages with low CTR.

Use Adsense for search.

Ads provide value to user. Are actually a service for people. Complement your content.

Focus on content. If you’re only interested in money: visitors will know and flee. Fit ads to layout and content, not the other way around.

Keep users on your site. Make Adsense a plausible exit route, without asking the visitor to click.

May use AdsenseTracker and the like, but not supported/endorsed by Google. Using it is by itself not against the TOS. The way he said it suggested there are things you can do with it that are against the TOS.

Multilingual pages with different languages on same URL may be a problem.

If you have severe targetting problems: e-mail adsense dash support at you know where. They said this only 15 times, so they must be serious about it.

And of course, they were glad to answer questions, appreciate the feedback, are continually improving the program, look forward to our e-mails yadayadayada

Total bs, they use the language setting you specified in internet options + Geo targetting of IP.

No I don't think it is. They use content IME, and when the content of a URL depends on the accept-language header there may very well be a problem.

I heard this too, but I'm pretty sure the word was "forums" and not "forms". Also... not sure the 3rd one was "search".

Anybody else take notes? I'm a horrible note-taker. Thanks for taking the notes you did.

I only got the audio because my computer took the whole hour to load the visual. LOL

I know, I know... should have prepared early.

They said "May be a problem..." Not, "Will be a problem.."

There are very few black and white situations/scenarios with Google or Adsense. Google exists in a dimension that is only colored in gray.

BTW, thanks for posting the notes. Very interesting.

I i've gone to cuba, itally, usa and a few other countries in the last 6 months. Every single time i checked my sites in those countries i would get ads in the local language, even though i don't have a single word of spanish or italian on my site.

I don't think that's the same thing as what was said in the webinar, according to the notes from the meeting and how I am interpreting what was written.

Makes sense Yesmom, I guess you're right.
