I came across a website freely hosted on geocities, on which I saw this note
>Please click on the above Google ads to support www.#*$!xyz.com , We help you with every thing Free. So you should also support us. If we earn more we will serve more to you.>

I was wondering, Google doen't mind if you place the adsense code on Geocities. I have come across many geocities freely hosted websites on which i saw Adsense ads running.

you can bet they will close it down as soon as they see it ;) does anybody still visit geocities sites?

to speed things up, you could send them a snapshot of the screen to investigate or just the link...then demand they give you a job as a google inspector ;)

( i´m not trying to be sarcastic or clever ) :)

Report it to adsense-abuse@google.com

I haven't done it very often as I have much better things to do with my time, (analysing adsense stats and tuning my website accordingly) but on the rare occasion I have reported a site the reaction can be quite entertaining!

All of the sites I reported except for 1 all of a sudden removed the "click on the ads to support the site" messages, and were still serving ads. The one site didn't and got booted. The webmaster then published the letter adsense sent him to warn him that he wasn't in compliance and moaned vociferously that it was unfair that Google had booted him, and that they owed him money.

Personally I'd have complied, got the money earned to date and still been serving ads - but however.....

Then he published letters that his supporters had sent to Google backing him up saying it was unfair to boot him.

Honestly.

Do you think that publisher came here and started one of the I-was-booted threads? :o)

No idea! But I guess it's a possibility.

Read these comments with interest. I'm relatively new to turning around a site and making it earn its keep as it were and mine are doing that nicely now. It's so frustrating to think that there are individuals out there that *could* potentially spoil what is a good thing.

Build a good content rich site, market it, allow a bit of advertising and make a little. Quite simple to stick to the rules, so why do some folk have to try bend them and ruin it all.

This is the single biggest threat to the survival of the adsense program. Google should dedicate more resourses to combating that scum.

The best way to report them is to click on the "Ads by Gooooooogle" and fill out the form, that way they have all the information that they need to bring the hammer down.

This tip was shared at the New Orleans PubCon.

Because fraudster always think they are more intelligent than the rest...And that is also why they often get caught...

Hi,

The average IQ of the occupants of UK police cells is 85. If they were any smarter they'd probably have worked out that a normal day's work pays much more reliably than crime for most of them.

I have reported a couple of egregious examples via the "Ads via Google" link, but as they were just random (scraper-type) sites that I stumbled across while trying to actually FIND something, I haven't been back...

What are these 'scraper-site' things? Clearly they're not good for the adsense programme, but I'm not sure what they are.

i also saw a concurent using text messages to invite people to click on their google banners...

i msg google Netherlands and they msg me back that they will forward the website address to Google specialists , but still after 3 day's (72 hours!) they still got adsense on that site :(

this site also use a lot of se spam to get #1 positions..

its awfull when you see this and you know that you work harder then them..

my opinion is that beginner webmasters earn a LOT more then the professional ones.

If i was google only 1 spam word in your keyword list was enough to kick them out

Scraper sites are basically machine-generated pages which harvest content from other sites, piece them together for the purpose of driving traffic and having the visitor click on the AdSense ads (the actual site doesn't sell or promote an AP). Matt Cutts hates them with a passion.
