Hi there,

I am just planning to add more pages and categories to my web site and I was wondering how would that effect my epc? I know it all depends on niche, etc. but I wonder if anyone experienced such case. And what happens?

Sincerely..

I'm constantly adding more content, and I usually try an adsense banner somewhere on the new content. I always use the channels function for all banners - that way I know very easily what banners work, and what ones don't.

If a banner doesn't work, I'll remove it. I don't have a standard time for how long I will leave a banner up before I make a decision, but I generally leave a new banner there a few days at the least to see what effect it's had. The only way to find out what works for you is experimentation.

As to epc and so on, by having a channel for each banner it's easy to see how existing pages are affected (if at all) by the new content. Therefore I'd recommend using channels on your existing pages (if you don't already) as well as new pages. It's the best way of getting a feel for what works and what doesn't.

blue_eagle :
placing 2 different ad formats in a single page will surely help you to increase your earnings, eventhough your eCPM will be down.

what i am coming to say is,
1 ad format : the higgest bidders ads will be displayed , even it may be unrelated to your website's topic, so ultimately your visitor will not click the ad.

2 ad formats : there is a possibility to display the ads from highest to lowest bidders, if your topic related ads pay you less , there is possibility for your viistor to click the lowest bid ads related to your website's topic, so your earnings will be more.

As from my expereince, after placing 2 ad formats in most of my web pages, my earnings increased ( but from the begining of july it is coming down , i don't know the reason)

Note : My English is very poor, sorry for the same.

Hi,

Yes, it is certainly possible IMHO that showing only one ad slot may mean that if G mis-guesses your topic you lose any reasonable chance of click-through.

At the other end of the game, I am just trying an algorithm to automatically reduce the ad loading/slots on pages where CTR is low so as to try to improve the visitor experience (by reducing page-load and page-render time).

I guess that moderation may be king here.

Rgds
