I just wanted to let you know that tomorrow, July 22, 2005, between approximately 9 PM – 11 PM Pacific Time we will be conducting scheduled AdSense maintenance. During this time, you may not be able to access the ‘My Accounts’ tab of your account.
Your earnings will continue to accrue during this timeframe, and will appear in your reports after the maintenance is complete.
Thank you,
-ASA
BTW...you can enjoy some of the ill-gotten gains tomorrow night if you wish to partake?
iBill ought to be there, maybe he will in spirit, however I reckon by his lack of inactivity that's he's probably earned far too much and trying to drown his bank manager with his sorrows:-))
Wait a minute. Who is this AdsenseAdvisor?
Is he posing as a Google employee or what?
Jenstar, please investigate this guy.
Been on holiday Dantol?
New ASA has arrived...why do you assume ASA is "he"?
Aha...!
BTW, if you go to the Adwords forum you'll find an AWA:-)
Initial introduction [google.com]
Reintroduction [webmasterworld.com] when the person behind ASA changed.
So I can confirm 100% that this person works on the AdSense team at the plex ;)
Sorry if I offended anybody, I am a big sceptic.
Does this have anything to do with beer?
Undoubtedly...best day to visit is the last Friday of the month, 2-4-1 Corona and Tequila:-)
I bet that's hit the sweet spot!
While I certainly appreciate the advance information, why not just post something on the Adsense web page after the user signs into Adsense so all your customers will know. Not a new page just additional status info somewhere in the border of all pages on the site (not frames please). I don't scrape, but I'm sure there are many that must to keep up with the many, many logins one must use to maintain a modern large website (justification for automation, imagine automation on the web!).
When there is no info show:
Status
"OK 2005-07-22 3:47 AM PST (Time of actual report)"
When there is some status info:
"Maintainence Imminent 2005-07-22 11:00 PM PST"
This is sort of standard practice in the industry. Standardize the statuses so they are consistent and unchanging in format.
If you want to go nuts have an RSS feed for status!
Thanks!
Anyway, thanks for letting us know at least here.
I would personally prefer receiving an email informing me about scheduled outages. Some messaging facility (or just a blog) available from within AdSense accounts might be a good idea too (however, in case of this kind of outages it would not help, because we could not log in to see it).
Dont we all prefer so? Not even half of adsense publishers are members of webmasterworld. Even the other half that are members, would they have to keep an eye on adsense forum to get announced?
Not underestimating WWW or something :)
Why isn't word about the outage posted there, Asa? Do Adsense publishers have to be Webmaster World members to find out what the heck is going on?
And yes, I did just check. Ain't nothin' on the Adesense site to reflect this.
And it has to come up from us?
Isn't that standard web practice?
I'm sure Adsense guys have thought about this years back, and nothing was done till now? There could be some strange reason for this I'm sure.
However in the absence of not knowing what it is, it feels a bit like dealing with the bureaucracy in India (Where I live) or god forbid, a big monopoly.
