Ads without domain names

can they be blocked?

I have seen several ads on my site that do not have the domain name when you right click and go to properties. They have something like...

http //pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/ads?client==ca-pub-29410xxxxxx27xxx

in place of ...

http //pagead2.googlesyndication.com/url?q=http://www.xxx.com

If I enter the domain name that shows up on the ad into the URL filter, will those domain names be blocked?

You can either do the URL that appears on the ad itself, or the URL domain that appears as the actual link.

You can right click the link and then select properties to see the destination URL, or right click and copy shortcut, then paste it into notepad (NOT the browser address field) so you can see the entire URL.

Do take into account that it seems to filter domain.com and www.domain.com as two different URLs.

I think the safer way to determine the URL's from a given set of ads is through the "Ads By Google" link - the URL for link provides the URL's of the advertisers and what are presumably the keywords that triggered their appearance. Using that link significantly reduces the chance that a slip of your finger will necessitate sending a "mea culpa" to AdSense support.

So it is OK to click on the "Ads By Google" link? I never did for I did not want to get canned. (and still don't)

Yes it is OK. Google Support has even suggested it.

in fact its the best way to report on ads that have speeling mistakes or in rare cases are in bad taste which has slipped the attn of the adsense ppl. absolutely nothing wrong in clicking the "about the ads" link
