I recently came across Kontera.

These guys offer a kind of contextal ad service similar to Adsense -1) Adsense lookalike ads 2) keywords in the pages are underlines, mouseover would produce a tooltip in a later with some text and a click would take the visitor to the advertiser's site.

The first one is obviously a violation od Adsense - you can't have stuff that looks too much like Adsense.

I am interested in the linked keyword thingy. This cannot be mistaken for Adsense definitely and I would like to try it.

Does anyone here use them both together on the same site or pages? I have seen a couple of sites where both are bering used.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

I used them both for a month, about 10 words were highligted by kontera per page. The CTR for kontera was around 2.5% but the CPM was onyl about $2.00. I dropped them after a month fearing that my visitors were leaving on less expensive clicks than I could get if they left with adsense. Another gripe I had, which I am probably spoiled because of adsense, was that stats weren't updated in "real time" so I had to wait till the next day to see my performance. Overall I would reccomend trying them, but for me it wasn't worth it.

I was curious. The people at kontera told me the ads are from Yahoo! And my site needs to be approved by Yahoo before my application can go through.

Is this the same with you guys?
