If I run a daily report broken down by channels (for me channels are the domains I have), I am told the total is 80% or so of $X. The actual percentage varies.
Now I know most will think I am not listing all the channels/domains where I place the ads. I am pretty confident that I am because I am certain about where I placed the ads.
Can Google tell me every domain where my banner is appearing? How do I get such a report?
My channel data shows about 20% of my total revenue, because the first ad I created didn't have a channel. That one ad on the right side of all my pages, earns about 80% of my revenue, therefore, when I run a channel query, it doesn't show up...
I should be able to get the domains right, no?
what are you talking about?

I mean I know the domains I placed the banners on. I was saying that there is no mystery there. I entered each of those domains as a channel. There are no other domains.
Google tells me I've made more each day than the sum of the channels. It seems that the channels are underreporting revenue.
My question is why are the two totals different? Is it because
(a) someone has put my ads up somewhere else or (b) Google cannot always tell the source of the ad or
(c) some other reason?
And that reminds me: AOL also caches pages for its users. This can mean that one AOL user visits your page, it's cached, and then the 37 other AOL visitors that day only see the cached version. Even if the AOL cache updates daily, your AOL impressions will be seriously under-reported.
This could be a major cause behind the "bug" in counting impressions by URL that's been discussed here in other threads.
Channel code, on the other hand, is going to be reported more accurately, because a page with channel code in the AOL cache will still generate an impression.
Lesson: don't use URL channels if you want accurate reporting....
Without being able to see your account statistics, it is difficult to answer this question. However, there are several reasons why the sum of your URL channel earnings might be less than the aggregate earnings displayed in your reports.
First, did you use ‘www’ in creating your URL channels? Entering a domain using ‘www’ produces different results than if you remove the ‘www’ from the URL. For more information, see the following AdSense FAQ entry: [google.com...] .
Second, your users might have reached your site through other domains. This could happen if users found your site through cached versions of your pages stored on different domains (such as search engine results), or if another site is framing your pages.
I hope this helps. If you’d like me to pass your information along to Support, feel free to sticky mail me with any specific URLs relating to this issue.
