Perhaps some AdWords people haven't turned on their July advertising yet.
I know my site will tank on July 3/4, it always does, but so far it's business as usual and then some. I dont know why but my early morning numbers were the best all week (month?) so far, my CTR and eCPM are soaring at the moment. Normally it averages down toward the end of the day anyway but today's numbers are starting off with a bang.

a) a site I run on engines and stuff has a huge banner add for wedding dresses on every page... which simply helps just loads! So far 18 emails laughing, no clicks from this site! What happened to context based ads!
b) search results for 5 of my 15 sites are changing by the hour... No longer number one for usual terms, but going back to the bourbon type results on page 5 or 7
c) Price per click halved on some sites, as has the CTR...
c) traffic generally low... But click through down from 13 percent pre bourbon, to 11 last month, and so far today 8... Which isnt surprising when you consider the wedding dresses!
I am going to the pub...
Stats are not always up-to-date or there could be lags in which part of the stats get updated (which could be why the CPM seems to be low). You cannot truly say if a day is good or bad until the date switchover and the stats begin showing for the following day. Saying a certain day "sucks" when it is only 9 hours into it is not really an effective way of gauging anything.
Monday is July 4th holiday in the US. Many took today (Friday) off to make it an extra long weekend. Traffic will be down.
Today (Friday) is a holiday in Canada as well (Happy Canada Day to fellow Canadian AdSense'ers :) ).
Many advertisers probably won't ramp up their $$ until Tuesday, have paused their campaigns over the holiday weekend, or have dropped their $$ right down if they are not around to monitor it. This will all result in a lower EPC.
1) I have a large audience outside the U.S., so the July 4 weekend has a limited impact on my traffic and earnings. (May 1 can be slow, however.)
2) July is crunch time for travelers who are still planning their summer vacations.
I'll be ready to gnash my teeth over declining earnings in November and December, when owners of gift-related sites are rolling in money.
I know you cant gauge anything much in such a short time, but its interesting and fun to compare. But I suspect millions of made for adsense sites, cpm ads, strangely badly targeting, resulting in a low clickthrough rate (for me on all sites) and some search engine reindexing going on again means its all going to be a mess again!
When you have 15 nich sites, on diverse subjects and earn normally a good 100 per day plus its easy to see trends v quickly!
Wish list...
a) get rid of cpm ads (no good on a well targeted high clickthrough rate content page) OR give us as publishers the choice.
b) put google back as it was pre bourbon!
c) get rid of all scrapers and any site that steals even a phrase off your site from both se and adsense.
D) ADSENSE should ban ALL sites that do not stick to the letter of the rules.
Because people are quickly becoming v wary of gooooogle ads and dont click them. and "directories" with ads are the cause. This effects all of us with genuine useful content pages.
Its just for checking stats while drinking beer outside in the sun...
You dont sell wedding dresses by any chance?
I have one site that really earns right now.
SE traffic has been down for the last few days. Its a decrease across the board though from all the major engines so I am not worried too much.
I used to dominate MSN's listings for both the old search and their beta but something happened (not just to my site either) and the day it went LIVE, my site (and a bunch of others I've seen) just suddenly showed up as a domain name only, nothing else.
All the people they outsource MSN support to on Mars just kept saying "we're still indexing, we'll get to you eventually" and I kept replying "I was already indexed and it vanished, not even a synposis" to which the people from Mars said "We see you in the index, you're OK" and I went "it's JUST THE DOMAIN NAME! NO SYNOPSIS! NO PAGES!" and never heard from them again.
It eventually just came about a week ago or so ago, some rankings are moving up but it's VERY weak compared to what it one was but appears to be climbing every week, time will tell.
That little MSN fiasco cost me about 50K visitors/month best I can tell.
