found a keyword phrase that works, "texas blue widgets"

tried to test it in content pages with adsense and works sorta ok but I'm getting some ads from california widget companies. I have thought about increasing the use of the keyword phrase but have seen warnings about what might be considered spam. If I use "texas blue widgets" four times per 100 words of text is my concentration
4% (most say OK)
or
12%(many say no no)

thanks for any comments

Google uses LSA now (Latent Semantic Analysis) while analyzing page content. For us, this means instead of using the exact phrase "Texas blue widgets" several times in a page, it may help you more to use that phrase once or twice, but then vary it with related words and phrases. Try "Texas widgets" a couple of times, and "blue widgets" in other places where it is natural to do so. This also holds true for variations of the same stem words, like using "widget" instead of "widgets."

It's anybody's guess what the best keyword density % is, but try mixing up the main phrase you're trying to optimize for and you'll probably get better rankings. Test, test, and then test some more.
