Hi,

I'm running a music blog with Adsense ads in it. All of the ads seem to be about blogs (eg increase traffic to your blog), and not music related. How can I get the adsense ads to change?

I've looked at the FAQ on Adsense and had a look round this site and I couldn't see anything obvious so sorry if I've missed it.

First of all, welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com]!

Based on my limited knowledge, here are some things to look for:

Are your title tag or h1 tags something like 'eddiecurry's music blog'? If so, Adsense might get the impression that your content is about blogs, rather than music.

Same thing for keywords and description meta tags. At the WebmasterWorld conference, I heard that Adsense will use these to determine the page topic.

Is it possible that no one in the music industry is advertising things that match your content well enough? Adsense might be doing the best it can with its inventory, although it's not what you want. If you know of any similar sites, check to see which adwords ads they display.

Hope this helps.

Simply, make sure that the text on your pages related to "music" is more than that about "blogs". Also, if your page is new, AdSense might need more time to crawl it. Add more text content and be patient. Ads will be better targeted with time.

If you get frustrated after trying for a while, wait a week or so after correcting the text on your site, just ask the AdSense team why the ads are off target. When I asked they sure told me what to fix and it worked right away.

Run a keyword analyzer (like the one at [ranks.nl...] over your blog page. (You might have to run it over a permalink page if you exceed the analyzer's limits.) You'll probably see that 'blog' and related terms like 'feed' show up higher than other terms, so AdSense thinks the pages is about blogs.

Hi, thanks to everyone for the advice. The site is still relatively new, some of the subpages are starting to show the correct ads even if the main page isn't, so I suppose it's just a question of time.
