Text vs. Image Ads

Has anyone had good results with images?

I only allow text ads on my sites and I'm wondering if I should start allowing images. Esp. with the new CPM ads that will be available in a few days. Any opinions on this?

My site's doing really well right now, I'm afraid to change anything. But, if I hear that others are doing good with the images, I might try it out.

I see image ads from time to time but it is so infrequent that it is hard for us to infer on the results of those types of ads.

I started running both text & image ads on my website, and I actually saw a slight improvement in earnings. I say give it a try. If you don't see much change in your earnings after a few weeks, then go back to text.

Visually, I prefer text ads, as do most people (I assume). However, if it can possibly make you more money, then go for it.

I'll give it a go at 3 AM, when, in my time zone, a new day of stats start. I've gotten in the habit of automatically waking up about this time to check my daily earnings. :-(

From what I have heard, image ads pay lower generally.
If everything is going smooth on your site, maybe it would be best to just leave everything until there is some significant change, like for eg, a page that has always done well suddenly stops doing well.

I was thinking that image advertisers compete for ad bids with other advertisers, same with the new CPMs coming up.

More competition, more money?

Or, leave well enough alone... guess I'll decide at 3 AM, after 1/2 night's sleep. Decisions, decisions.

I tested image ads. NOT GOOD.
They usually pay your per CPM (per every 1000 impressions). When I run "image ads only" I never got paid by the click, only by impressions.

Changed to both last month and ended the month lower than 2 months ago. Put it back to text only and today my earnings are going up again.

Same CPC for image ads. I do not prefer it.

Well, 3 AM came along, I opened one eye, glanced at the clock, then went back to sleep. Gonna stick with the text, don't want to take any chances.

You dont get paid for CPM, you only get paid for the clicks with the image ads.

Where did you get that information?

Do you know that if you get paid for impression, you've already violated the TOS every time you open your page to see the image ad?

lol
