Can you run your Google AdSense code in Banner Exchanges

We run a banner exchange on our site and just wondering what are the thoughts on placing our Google AdSense Code so it would show up in other websites that use our code.

If there was abuse on the network it would be easy to track but would our account be in trouble because of abuse from other webmasters?

Should we go this direction?

From the Adsense FAQ:

4. Can I show ads on more than one site?
Yes, and you don't even have to let us know because we'll automatically detect new sites that contain the AdSense ad code. The HTML code we provide you with is valid for any page in any site on which you want to display AdWords ads. However, you may only display AdWords ads on sites that you own or on sites that you are legally authorized to act on behalf of for the purposes of Google AdSense. We also monitor all sites in AdSense to ensure that all pages displaying AdWords ads comply with our program policies.

Thanks but what do you think? A risky move or pretty safe considering that we authorize all sites that are members of our exchange program?

Authorizing a site to run an ad and being authorized to act on behalf of a site are not the same thing.

Just as you authorize Google to run their ads on your site, you are not authorizing Google to act on behalf of your site.

I would consider it a violation of the T&C.

I would also be concerned that some of those sites who display the banner exchange might also be running AdSense already, resulting in double serving, and a probable email from Google.

If you do decide to do something like this, you would need to allow those who participate in the banner exchange to opt-out of showing AdSense, just as the large ad networks allow publishers to do.

But I would still tread warily. This sounds very much like something AdSense wouldn't like, so why jeopardize your account standing? You can always email them specifically to see what Google's official stand on using AdSense in a banner exchange is.

Will not be going this direction. Thank you for all your input.
