Pictures on the Left of an Ad Block.

Against the TOS?

I see a lot of sites lately that put pictures to the left of an Adsense ad block. Most of the time it's a large rectangle with 4 pictures, each with the height of 1 ad next to it so it looks like the picture belongs to the ad.

Is this against the TOS?

I know there was a post here some time ago about a site that had ads with rating stars next to it. The site was reported to Google, who replied this was against the TOS.

Dirk.

I just took a look at the 5-star site I had reported... he no longer is an adsense publisher :) Maybe that is why my adwords spending is down and my EPC on Adsense is up a tad.

So the rating stars are against the TOS, but what about other pictures that are relevant to the page content?

I'll bet it depends on how it's done. Does it look like part of the site design, or like a big fat arrow pointing at the ad?

Google could tell you for sure whether it is acceptable or not.

It's probably something that needs to be looked at on a case by case basis, as I'm sure there are lots of people that happen to have images next to the ads.

I think he means say a picture of a possible product and it may look like they need to click on that ad for the product. would be nice if he could get the pictures and ads to match.

An idea may be to keep it all generic, but this doesnt answer if its against the tos. (Sorry interesting topic had to post)

I would think it would also be a neat way to get some keywords into the table with adblock and coax some targetting.

I'm seeing this more and more now. I can't imagine Google hasn't addressed this in one way or another yet.
