Zero Paid Clicks?

Why some clicks get $0.00?

I've noticed quite several click-throughs are marked with 0.00 - which means we (or I) don't get paid for some clicks. Does anyone has an idea why?

It could simply be a PSA (public service announcement) ad that was clicked, which doesn't pay anything.

Impossible!

I had in one channel 4 clicks $0.--

All ads on this channel are with replaces PSA

"Impossible!"

how can you be so certain? Unless one clicks on a "paying" link (on their own site), there's no way to know for sure.

"impossible"

He is correct, if you replace PSA's with a nominated replacement, you in effect never get PSA's.

So no free ads, so anything clicked, should be a paying ad

I think there are two explanations:
- Google deemed the clicks invalid
- Each table can be updated at a different time so there might be some delay..

As far as I know clicks on PSA don't get tracked.

And even if you do get PSA's, when they are clicked, that doesn't show up as a click in your stats. I read somewhere that 0 cent clicks were invalid clicks and therefore wern't paid. This could be wrong though.

[edit: Zygoot beat me there by a minute :)]

I also got one of these yesterday. And it's not delayed updating because the day closed already for this channel - 1 click, 0 cent. The irony is that only yesterday I was complaining about 3-cent clicks in this forum.

moneyraker!
You should stop complaining.
Otherwise - you will be charged for next clicks!

I have a lot standard banners up (468x60) that usually carry two paying ads. Recently I noticed that one of the two ads was for some diabetes site that apparently linked to a .org site (that was what the status bar said). Also the ad copy read like it was a PSA.

For such cases (two ads can be displayed, but only one paying ad available), I assume G displays a PSA as 2nd ad to keep the layout structure.

Just my $0.02

I had this happen - I emailed Google to ask and got a waffley, round about answer that seemed to imply that it was probably an invalid click.
How they infer that from one click, I know not, but Google gets to decide these things, not us! :(
