adsense not displaying on one of my computers

Adsense won't display on my home pc running Windows XP sp2.

I went through Google's support and I did everything they suggested that I do, yet the ads still don't show up in either IE or Firefox.

I have no idea what is preventing them from showing. All of the javascripting is setup correctly as well. Does anyone have any other things I can check for? Google couldn't help me. They're last suggestion was to format and REINSTALL XP. hehe

When someone tells you to reformat, run the other way.

1. Do you have any kind of firewall on? Norton Internet Security or Zone Alarm, etc.?

2. Do you see Adsense ads on other sites?

1. The only firewall installed is the windows SP2 one. I've disabled it entirely.

2. nope. I don't see them on any site.

Of course, this is bothersome because there is clearly a technology that is blocking google ads and I didn't ask for them to be blocked. How many people are missing google ads unintentionally?

run with IE, run with FF

then tell me do you still see those. the problem has been discussed before, it is caused by the int tem files

I'm not sure what "run with IE run with FF. tell me do you see those" means.

But, clearing Temp Internet Files was one of Googles suggestions and I tried it...again just now too with no success.

Did you restart after clearing the temp files?

If this has only just started happening, have you installed any new programs at all recently? Any plug-ins, screensavers, etc.?

Maybe you installed google accelerator? I had problems with showing adsense after installing that new tool.

Check your "hosts" file for redirect of the AdSense ad servers to "localhost", "127.0.0.1", or similar.

Some anti-virus/spyware/adware and/or firewall software will add those entries to stop ads.

The file (without an extension) is usually found at:

C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\

or

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried everything up to the 'hosts' file and I'm wondering what would the adsense server entry look like?

Even google couldn't offer that suggestion. I found the hosts file and removed an entire section dedicated to google.

The ads are now showing up.
