EFT verses Check for Canadian Publishers

Would like some comparison.

I have opted to remain out of EFT beta for the moment until I am sure the bugs were worked out. So far it looks pretty good. Now, before I sign up, I would like to make a comparison because in the end the only thing that will sway me one way or the other is $$$ and convenience.

I received my check today in Canada. (May 2nd)
My bank charges nothing to cash the cheque.

In the end for every $1000 Google Adsense Dollars (US Dollars), I received $1237.80 Canadian dollars put into my account.

How did you other Canadian publishers fare in terms of net rate received (taking into account all transfer and cashing charges) and when did you received the funds?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for replying. I guess based on one response I will put EFT on hold for another month unless some other publishers chime in.

I would suggest just keep on receiving cheques. The bank charges nothing and you actually have more control over what exchange rate you get.

Just my 0,02$. (or 0,024$ USD).

I also decided to stick with checks because I prefer US funds, and EFT for Canadians is only in Canadian funds.

I chose to get my check in CDN funds and I got $1225 CDN / $1000US. I like the CDN checks so that I can deposit them in the Bank machine (for US checks I have to deposit at the teller). But it looks like I would have made more if I continued with the US checks.

Thanks for posting your info. It does seem that it was better to get the US checks. $12.00 is not a lot but it's about 3 pints at the bar, which is well worth the the time it takes to talk to the teller.

How long does it take for a US check to clear in Canada? I'm in Nova Scotia, but I still bank in the US because I was told once that US checks take 30 days to clear.

As it is, when my check arrives, I'm going to have to pay thirty-five bucks to FedEx it to my bank in Maine.

I had planned to sign up for EFT but that's two people now who said their EFT failed. I need my adsense to survive. I don't know what I'd do if an EFT failed on me. I guess I'll keep getting the checks until Google says the EFT isn't in beta anymore.

I guess I can ask for a Canadian funds check next time though. Even if I didn't get quite the best exchange rate, I'd save on the FedEx, and not having to transfer the money back to Canada.

Payment was issued on Apr 26.
Money in the bank on Apr 28.
Rate 1.2307 (currency was set to Canadian Dollars in AdSense CP).

It depends on how well you know your bank. Mine clears instantly (or at least my bank lets me access the funds instantly). I think since adsense is a monthly occurrence, you can ask your bank to make a note of it and then after a few months they should take off any holds they put on it. The first Canadian bank I tried to cash it with said there would be a 25 business day hold (or something like that) so I moved my account elsewhere.

I used EFT and the funds were in the account last Friday.

We used Nova Scotia Bank (Could be called differently in Canada as I opened the account with the CEO of NCB in Asia but funds are cleared on the fly and he gave me a Visa card so I can draw it).

Most of Adsense money is saved away for a nice loghouse around Vancouver.

Thanks asinah,
But the big question is: What rate did you get?
