Hey everyone,

Well I jsut added AdSense to my website and I was kinda curious how it worked. My site is new and I only get about 42 visits a day. But I thought I would add AdSense anyways. What is this CPM? I guess it means Clicks per 1000 Impressions? So does Google pay by the amount of clicks per 1000 impressions or by each click. I find my earnings were at $2.10 and now they are at $2.01. Is that how it works?

Thanks :)

Wes

CPM means "Cost Per Thousand" impressions. The new CPM model that Adwords is offering advertisers will pay a flat rate per thousand ad impressions, rather than per click.

Currently in Adsense reports, the eCPM column means "Effective CPM." This allows publishers to compare Adsense with other advertising programs on a one-to-one basis.

Hope that helps.

Yeah that does make a lot of sense.

So If I got around 10k pageviews a month (sad I know - but I only started march 1st) is there a point to adding AdSense to my site?

Well, let's look at some hypotheticals:

Say you add Adsense to your site with 10k page views per month. Let's also say you average a click-thru rate (CTR) of 2% for a total of 200 clicks. Further, let's say your topic earns you an average of $0.50 per click.

Is $100/month worth adding Adsense to your site? What if you had a 10% CTR? 20%?

It all depends on a whole lot of factors. Worst case, you try Adsense and the numbers don't work out the way you'd like and you remove it. Best case, you retire from your day job. :)
