Good optirex! prove me wrong. While i feel that you and a handfull of others are, i believe that the reality is that the majority of those focused on computer related activities as thier career (not just those contributing to this site) do not utilize that type of human contact. Usually those who do find reason to involve themselves come to the conclusion they are lacking signifigant human interaction, yet that alone isnt enough motivation most of the time. Four incentives are most often used to complete the "I need leave my computer" cycle and sadly enough these are the want of "Power", "Money", "Sex", or "Physical/Mental Numbness".
Adsensers!
How do you relax?
Do you relax?
Do you spend all your hours plotting your next improvements alone or do you go to the pub/cafe and bounce your ideas around with others?
Maybe myself and friends, who are all developers/programmers, are unusual in that we meet several nights a week and chat about various ideas we've had reading through the various forum threads etc.
We're a mixed group of males and females ranging from early twenties to mid fifties in the UK where evening/early morning socialising is a well known local leisure activity:-)))
I play darts to relax
Along with a few well-earned beers?
I used to play tenpin bowling at national and international tournaments until the explosion of the Net ruined the five day working week:-(
I intend taking it up again shortly now that I have everything under much better control however getting back to the 200+ average may be easier said than done!
Beer and beer for me, but if the weather ever improves (upstate NY) lots of bike riding and tennis.
I'm also considering running for president as a way to meet girls, if nothing else. My main platform will be something along the lines of "can't possibly be as bad as the current one," and "no party affiliation." May actually strike a chord with some. The campaign will be run 80% online funded by adsense clicks.
Now, don't go stealing my ideas... ;-)
I choose even the holiday target for my family with AdSense in mind.
When my 2 doughters maybe see Disney World Paris this year, it's only because their father is an AdSense publisher.
My wife started to study English in order to translate my sites better.
Sure if I worked myself to the bone I'd make more but..Why bother? I'm making decent money, I do still have the odd late night of work and I'm sustaining decent growth with the majority of my websites.
I got quite a bit done today, and still managed to hit the gym, go to karate, and I'll probably play a round of disc golf tonight.
There's no sense in making some extra money if you can't enjoy it.
1. Most of us like beer...not many tequila heads here then!
2. We realise the importance of getting our bums off our comfy seats and getting a bit/lot of excercise, fresh air, break.
3. You take your aggression out on computer games...
4. Adsense is a good source for supplementary income for family life.
5. An Adsenser will win the next US election easily and at no expense.
All in all we seem to be a reasonably well balanced bunch of geeks therefore I claim the win over website:-))
Now don't go upsetting me by pretending to be Marvin the paranoid android...Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy if you ain't seen it...premiered last night.
These days, as I make more money I find myself checking my adsense results every hour.
I got to stop that.
I think the key is to diversify the source of your income.... AND invest your adsense money into real estate or some other slow by rewarding income vehicle.
