I run a reminder service where users set-up birthdays, anniversaries, etc.

I would like to publish G ads relevant to my content. But ofcourse everything is user specific and users view their pages after logging in.

Has anyone got G to delivery content specific ads in this way? Sort of how they themselves do with Gmail.

As I understand the T&C, you're not permitted to place ads on password protected areas of your site.

yes, that is the default T & C...but has any large publisher set-up a special service (negotiated) behind a password area?

Google's googlebot and the mediabot would have to crawl the pages which is the real problem.

Have your private pages ever been indexed by Google?

Do you know how to keep the site private and allow them to be crawled by googlebot?

If the answer is no, you won't be able to run adsense on those pages anyway.

Besides, if the content is all owner specific then your users certainly wouldn't want their individual accounts indexed.

You could allow privelages from mediabot on those pages depending on how the password system is set up.

You can set this up by allowing the Mediapartners bot access to your protected area. According to my server log files this bot is always originating from the same IP address so opening your password protected area for this IP address should be enough. There is no need to let Googlebot into this area as you most certainly don't want your pages to be indexed in the search engine.

One reminder. Google and the advertisers might want to look at the pages where the AdSense advertisements are displayed. Although it is technically possible to allow the Mediapartners bot access to the pages and therefore display AdSense ads, these pages cannot be reviewed by Google and the Advertisers.

just learnt from a friend with a large publisher that G has a "premium cutomer team", which works with large publishers for crawling custom private content.
