I thought I read in several posts how people took off some of the ads and it was better for them.
Does having more than 1 adsense box on the page effect the price you receive per click?
Depends on if they are productive or not. You need to assign each box a channel, and monitor them closely.
In my case, I added a second adsense box at the bottom of the page. Unfortunately virtually nobody clicked on any of the ads in the second block. Therefore, the page suddenly had a 50% reduction in click through rate.
What then happened was a gradual slide in cost per click. I removed the second ad block, and epc, ctr and earnings returned to normal within 24 hours. Obviously I can't prove that smart pricing hit me, but I do suspect that that is the case.
The effect was quite dramatic, as although I have several banners throughout the site, nearly all my income is from the one banner.
Experiment with different numbers of banners, banner style and placement etc. But also keep an eye on unproductive ones, and consider dumping them if they don't perform. Seems like I'm not the only one who thinks this.
How does it work if I have an ad on my home page that nobody has clicked but a secondary page gets quite a few clicks. If I took the ad off the main page would that make a difference in price for the secondary page clicks or is it strictly what goes on for that specific page?
So by having fewer ads on the page will mean a higher price you are paid for the click from that page?
Maybe - it depends on if the second ad block gets clicks. If the ctr on both blocks is ok, then they are both productive. The second block displays lower paying ads though. You need to monitor each banner using a channel and consider removing it if it's not getting clicks.

We can only guess the answer here - Google won't reveal this information. Many people feel that it goes by page, so what happens on one page shouldn't affect the others. Again, you can have a channel for each banner (unless you have a very large number of ad blocks) so it's easy to track and analyse what is happening on your site.
