When somebody clicks ads on my site to i get a flat rate fee or does it all depend on the link?

what is the miniumum rate and maximum?

There's no minimum and no maximum and no one but G knows what the payout ratio is

but typically isit more than 10p per click or what? can you recieve really high amounts or generally is it always 5p per click?

It really does depend on how much the advertiser is willing to bid for the keyword. You'll find that most publishers are on the lower end of the scale, and rely on traffic to bring in revenue.

The minimum you'll receive, assuming the click is valid, is around 3cents (about 1.6p UK), and the maximum is only limited to how much the advertiser is willing to bid.

I have seen $15 clicks (in the old days) and now I see lots of $.75 clicks on certain terms.

so it makes no sense paying 4p per click to only recieve 2p per click back

I assume you're thinking about setting up Adsense and Adwords in conjunction with each other? Again, it depends. Some have made it work, but it can be very, very hard work making it pay. I gave up experimenting with this long ago, as the ROI was not worth it.
